The Problem :
I have a friend that had this error message appear "RV370 P/N 13-A62801-106 BIOS" when she was trying to turn on her Dell desktop computer. Unfortunatly it is not a software error; it is a hardware error. This error comes from the root of the computer, the bios. You are not able to edit bios settings or even boot into any form of operating system.
The Fix:
I have done quit a bit of research into it. It turns up that this error message is caused by a defective RAM stick(s). To solve this problem all you have to do is isolate the defective RAM stick(s).
- Remove all of the RAM sticks.
- Put 1 of the sticks back into the first RAM Bay (The slots you just took the RAM sticks out from)
- Turn on the computer. You shoud get a bios message that the amout of RAM has canged disregard it. If you are able to edit the bios settings or get windows to start to boot you are heading in the right direction. (If your computer did not turn on or still displays the "RV370 P/N 13-A62801-106 BIOS" message restart from step 2 with a different stick of RAM.
- Repeat Step 2 & 3 till you find the stick of ram that will give you the "RV370 P/N 13-A62801-106 BIOS" message. Once you find the defective stick mark it with something so that you will know that it is a defective stick.
- Once you have found the defective stick replace it with a new stick of RAM. Make sure that you replace it with the correct speed and size.

ReplyDeleteWorked for me! Turns out the one of the RAM sticks was not set in correctly so just need to be re-adjusted. Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteExactly right. Worked in my case.
ReplyDeleteVery guud
ReplyDeleteIn my case the solution to remove all the dimm has worked, clean the memory bays of the Mother Board with Contact Cleaner and the dimm with a white eraser.
ReplyDeleteI placed the dimm in the same order and place and the Dell Dimension 5150 computer worked perfectly
Thanks for the input.
All correct, another site mentions the solution of replacing the processor.....wrong, this site has the correct solution, it is indeed a bad memory stick...thanks for the correct solution!
